Gujarat Recognized As India's Top Blood Donor


AHMEDABAD: Gujarat received official recognition as the state which donates highest blood in India, both in terms of absolute number as well as blood donor to population ratio. Gujarat Red Cross was awarded by union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday for its pioneering contribution in the field of blood donation at the annual general meeting of Indian Red Cross Society organized in New Delhi. The trophy was collected by president of Ahmedabad Red Cross Mukesh Patel who has crusaded for the cause of blood donation for the past four decades. Patel himself is a centurion blood donor, having donated blood 125 times so far.
