Donation Process

             Blood donation Process - Its is safe and Simple, total  process will take only 60 minutes

   When You Arrive at the Blood Donation Center

  • When you arrive you will have to show some proof of identification. Once you are registered you will be asked to fill out a medical questionnaire.
  • When you sign in, you will be asked to complete a donor registration form, which includes your name, address, phone number, and various other types of demographic information.
  • You will also be asked to show your donor card or the type of identification required by the particular blood bank you visit.

              Health check

  • After you have completed the medical questionnaire, you will have the opportunity to discuss it in greater detail with one of our nurses during a confidential interview.
  • The doctor will also check your hemoglobin) and blood pressure to ensure that you are in a healthy state when you give blood.

           Blood Donation

  • Once the pre-donation screening is finished, you will proceed to a donor bed where your arm will be cleaned with an antiseptic, and a professional will use a blood donation kit to draw blood from a vein in your arm. If you are allergic to iodine, be sure to tell the phlebotomist at this point.
  • During the donation process, you will donate one unit of blood; this takes about ten to twelve minutes. (10 to 12 minutes) you usually donate 470 ml of blood

            After the donation

  • Relax and enjoy the refreshments on offer and remember to take it easy for the next 24 hours.
  • Drink lots of fluid and your blood will be fully restored after 48 hours.
  • If you have any questions concerning your donation or experience any unexpected problems, please call the center where you donated blood.

          Benefits of Blood Donation

    Increase the production of new RED BLOOD CELLS

As the blood is withdrawn from the donors body there is decrease in blood cells. To replenish it, immediately new cells are produced by marrow and thus blood gets refreshed.

Burn calories

     One can diet or remain fit by donating blood regularly. One pint of blood (450 ml) when donated burns 650 calories in donor’s body.


Invigorated feeling in elderly people

     It has been mentioned in various sites though not proved that elderly people in good health have reported feeling invigorated or reenergized by giving blood on a regular basis.


Reduce the chance of heart diseases

     It has been observed that increase of Iron level in blood increases the chance of heart diseases. Iron is involved in the oxidation of Cholesterol and this process is believed to be detrimental for the arteries. Increase of Iron level in blood favors this process of Cholesterol oxidation and thus leads to heart diseases. Regular blood donation helps especially males in loosing Iron on regular basis. It helps in reducing the chance of heart attack to one third.
